1. Age
Kumite: over 25 years old (WKF rules over 30 years old)
Kata: over 30 years old (WKF rules over 35 years old)
2. Dan Rank (no change)
Kumite: over NF 3 dan (same as WKF)
Kata: over NF 4 dan (same as WKF)
3. Officiation
a) Senior Championship
b) Junior & Cadet Championship
All “A” and “B” qualifications may now officiate at that level in all AKF Championships (same as WKF).
4. Term of Validity (after the acquisition or renewal of the qualification)
Kumite Referee A: 4 years
Kumite Referee B and Kumite Judge: 2 years
Kata Judge A: 4 years
Kata Judge B: 2 years
Even the one who lost effect of the qualification he/she may sit for the exam of the same category concerned, if it is within 2 years after the expiry of the qualification.
5. Referee’s Exam and Renewal
The exam and renewal for the Referees will be carried out during the Referee Course to be held in conjunction with the Senior Championship or the Junior & Cadet Championship or separately. In order to carry out the exam and renewal during the seminar approved by AKF EC, it is necessary for at least three members from AKF RC to attend the seminar.
6. Exam
Kumite: a) Theory Exam b) Practical Exam
Kata: a) Theory Exam b) Practical demonstration of 2 Shitei or Tokui Kata
c) Questions and Answers on WKF Shitei Kata own performed kata.
6.1. It is necessary for the new and rank-up examinees to take the theory and practical examinations.
6.2. A “B” licence is required before an “A” licence can be attempted. Candidates must progress through each level.
6.3. Referees may take the exam every year. For instance, the one obtained the Judge A qualification during the Junior & Cadet Championships will be able to take the Referee’s exam at the following Referees’ Course (same as WKF).
6.4. The theory exam paper will be prepared in three languages, such as English, Japanese and Arabic. In case there is a request of other language from various AKF members, it will be considered by AKF EC.
7. Exam Fee
a) Kumite: US$150
b) Kata: US$150
c) Kumite & Kata: US$200
d) Renewal: US$ 50
8. Renewal
Kumite Referee A and Kata Judge A: every 4 years
At the registration, it is necessary to submit the application form together with registration fee (US$50). Only the theory exam will be carried out. However, the one who has officiated in the Senior Championship, Junior & Cadet Championship or in the Asian Games before the expiry of the qualification, he/she may attend only the seminar and the theory exam will be exempted.
9. It is not necessary for WKF qualified referees to renew the AKF qualification. However, at the expiry of the WKF qualification, the AKF qualification will also be lost effect. The WKF qualified referees approved by AKF may renew the AKF qualification during the Referee Course. The expiry of the AKF qualification will be 4 years.
10. The WKF qualified referees without AKF qualification may not officiate in the AKF Championships.
11. Number of Referees allowed from each National Federation (except RC members)
a) Senior Championship: up to 8 participants for up-grade and new comer
(male and female inclusive)
b) Junior & Cadet Championship: unlimited for up-grade and new comer.
c) Late registration will not be entertained after cut-off date.
